And you thought remixing vocals was a convoluted science, Intsrumental remixing then must be a bag of fangs and filthy razors, To forge that track that perfects the science of self inflicted whiplash, comes down to the keen sense of knowing what elements to keep and discard.

Leave it to Tokyo`s naughty noise demons to compose the formula and come up with dope remixes to an already doper [Daydreaming] ep.

Enter Mark Greary`s remix of Trash.

A smooth dub-step based track. While maintaining the heart, of the original track, Geary strips some of the hard elements of the original way and mystically reveals the spirit of the track. Described as a `creeper` track…best enjoyed with the eyes close and the mind open.

If brain damage had a picture it would look like Xlii.

Xlii takes the original Trash track and super glues a rocket to the back and (yes) launches that bad boy to cosmos. People that need to blame their dance skills on a track, this is the one. An electro tweaked out spacey twitch-fest for the newly teleported terrestials.

Dj Audace`s remix of Mind Game is like what happens when a pregnant mom stands in front of the microwave one too many times.

Audace sticks to the original feel of the hip-hop based track with a few aesthetics tweaks and an injection of rising strings. In the advancement of time this track is funky futuristic, geared at subtly rising the tension on the dancefloor.

まずはマーク・ゲーリーのTrashリミックス。 スムーズダブステップをベースにしたトラック。オリジナルトラックの芯を残しつつもトラック
の主要素を取り除き、トラックの核心を明確にした。気味の悪いトラックとして表現されている。。。。 目を閉じて、でも心の目は大き
く開いて聞くと必ず楽しめます。

もし脳が打撃を受けた写真があるとすれば、それはXLIIが生み出す音だろう。オリジナルトラックを強力瞬間接着剤でロケットに貼り
付け、(もちろん)そのロケットはbad boys達を未知の宇宙へ連れ出す。自分のダンスを責めたい人には持って来いの作品です。
新たにテレポートさせられてしまった地球人の為のグイっとひっぱられるようなエレクトロです。
DJ AudaceのMind Gameのリミックスはヒップホップのベースを残しつつ、彼のスタイルと盛り上がるバイオリンを挿入。進化形のこのトラックはファンキーフューチャリスティックで徐々に盛り上がっていくダンスフロアに最適です。

XLII moved to Japan in 2004 following his first release, the album-sized mega-EP CD-R “Lethargy” in 2002.

Since his move to the land of the rising sun (or rising fun as he likes to call it) he has collaborated and performed with some of the biggest names in the country’s underground hip hop and electronic music scenes, including Broken Haze, ASA, DJ Ken-One and Yamajin da Sportsman to name a few.

He’s also released and featured on various releases across formats (vinyl, CD, digital) as both an MC and a producer (and also sometimes an engineer, but no one pays attention to those dudes when they check the credits, only the nerds).

His most notable releases to date were in 2008. First on ASA’s ‘FAB2′ album (which he also engineered), which release peaked at #9 on Cisco charts, the country’s most famous and popular alternative charts.

And then on Broken Haze’s ‘Raid System’ album single which went all the way to #1 on Cisco charts and also made the top 10 on iTunes Electronica charts. In July 2008 he released the ‘Time Slip’ EP on his own Fubar Recordings label, receiving a lot of attention and support throughout central Japan. A video from the ‘Time Slip’ EP track ‘Deserted’, directed by Gaspard Kuentz received a lot of praise for its captivating cinematic visuals and was aired regularly on MTV Japan (which as you can imagine was a nice break from the mainstream templated videos you generally see on MTV).

In December of the same year he also released a one-off Drum’N'Bass digital mini-compilation with Pentagon & Ethix called “White Label”, which garnered attention abroad in dnb circles. With all this time spent in the studio staring at a screen while clicking on a mouse (most of the time), XLII understandably likes to perform his music live as often as he can (if only to get a bit of color on his skin, and also because he’s rather good at it).

He’s been a regular fixture both in Tokyo and throughout Japan, keeping crowds entertained with a show centered around a laptop and a microphone. He mashes, mixes and creates beats and melodies on the spot before adding lyrics on top, sometimes off the cuff when he’s feeling adventurous (kinda like Eminem in 8 Mile but in many ways a lot better and with no American slang references). For most live performances, XLII features guest MCs and scratch DJs, often making unplanned changes on the go and “putting people on the spot”, thus endorsing a more raw and refreshing “session” feel.

Away from all this bling and artist success which affords him the lifestyle of the rich and famous (read between the words there), XLII is also a sound engineer as previously mentioned, catering to many of Japan’s modern scenes and genres, from hip hop to dnb. Some people say he has golden ears.

You’ll have to hunt him down yourself to find out whether or not that’s true. We reckon the discography kind of speaks for itself.

XLII’s latest release is an album, titled “Ego Friendly”, released on the Raid System label in Japan and worldwide in December 2009. The album was preceded by a 12″ vinyl EP, also called ‘Ego Friendly’, which hit stores in September 2009. XLII kicked off 2010 by touring in Europe and around Japan to promote his new album.

In April his new track “Roll upon you like XLII” was featured in a free download compilation “Oscillations” alongside the likes of Slugabed, Alex B, 8Bitch and Broken Haze to name a few which gathered more than 50,000 downloads.

As of May, he has been working away on a new EP as well as doing monthly podcasts for a UK site Rhythm Incursions and monthly Ustream radio shows alongside Broken Haze. Look out for new material from XLII coming soon on a good label near you!

Mark Geary first emerged as a drum’n'bass DJ in 2007, playing at numerous venues on the Tokyo circuit.

His eclectic tastes and experimentation with cutting-edge production techniques soon led him to venture into dubstep, techno and various other forms of electronic music.

Mark currently holds residencies at numerous must-see events in Tokyo including Hangover, United Nations and Elusive.

He continues to build a reputation among his peers with his signature style that fuses uncompromising dancehall destroyers with deep and minimal rolling beats, identifying him as one of the most prolific up-and-coming producers in Tokyo.

2007年、ドラムンベースのDJとして活動を開始し、東京都内の様々な場所で活躍する。

彼のエレクトリックなテイストと斬新なプロダクションテクニックを兼ね備えた試みが彼自身をダブステップ、テクノといった違う形のエレクトロミュージックへの道へも導く。

現在はHangover, United Nations, Ellusiveのような東京都内で開催されている絶対行った方が良いと評価されるイベントの レジデンスDJとして活動を続けている。

ディープでミニマルなローリングビートでダンスホールミュージックを融合させた彼のチューンを武器に周囲のアーティスト と共に彼の名声を築き、東京で最も期待されるプロデューサーの一人として認識されようとしている。

Hailing from Nantes, France DJ Audace crushed into the Tokyo music scene in 2005, with clear eyes and a mind full of pushing the limits of hip-hop, dub step, rock, electro, drum and bass to and over the edge.

Dj Audace(which is french for audacity) rocks the name with a causal cool demeanor that is misleading in comparison to his fearless approach to formulating /mixing any and all genres of music into a set that gives Audace a unique appeal and distinct signature, making his stage/live show performances an experience in the ecstasy of rock, ruckus and rhyme.

During his 1st month in Tokyo, Audace made a V line for the Roppongi district and began cutting his teeth as a residence DJ in various clubs and bars in Roppongi as well as in Kawasaki and Yokohama. In 2006-2007, Audace upped his DJ stats when he took command of the music production in diverse projects but most notably ‘Hibitanren’ with the Life Penciled Crew producing all the tracks.

Following his production debut in 2007, DJ Audace continued to sharpen his stage/live show performances and as a DJ/turntablist. He has recorded and appeared live with various artists including: XLII, Hardliner and Blip Pilot.

When not taking part in various events in Tokyo, DJ Audace is a resident dj at Shimokitazawa GHETTO events. Carrying with him his unique style of multi-genre mixes, DJing, turntablism and live instruments for his live show.
By using multi- genres of music, cutting and styling the pieces back into a picture of sound of his own choosing, DJ Audace continues to re-define his own style as he defines the future sounds of music today.

He’s currently working on his first album ”Audace Radio” to be released by year`s end.

東京での初めの1ヶ月で六本木・川崎・横浜界隈のパブやバーでレジデンスDJとして音楽活動を開始する。 2006-2007、Audace全
プロデュースのLife Penciled Crewとの合作「日々鍛錬」のリリースの指揮をとりDJとしてのステータスを本格的に築き始める。
翌年も引き続き、DJ/ターンテーブリストとして磨きをかける為にステージ・ライブを積極的に姿を現し、XLII, Hardliner, Blip Pilotを含む様々なアーティストと音楽活動を実施する。下北沢GHETTOのレジデンスDJとしてもライブパフォーマンスをし、マルチジャンルミック スというユニークなスタイルのミックスやDJはもちろん スクラッチやライブインストルメントも披露する。マルチジャンルのミックスを独自のスタイルでスタイリングし彼のイメージする音へと変化させていく。今存 在する音楽の未来の音を定義しながら彼自身のスタイルを再定義し続ける。

現在は年末リリース予定のファーストアルバム「Audace Radio」を製作中.
